Reporting up to 7 project managers at a time (Question from Jessica)
Question: My organization recently moved to project based teams where I sit in a pool of resources and am staffed based on project needs and availability. At any given time, I can have up to seven project managers whom I report into. Any suggestions on how to succeed in such a model?
GetHRSmart: The key to succeeding in such a setting is communication. I hope that each project manager is meeting with all of the members of the project team regularly to discuss project progress and for team members to share thoughts and insight. There may also be some overlap and synergies across projects. In these cases, it would be ideal for all of the project managers to meet on a regular basis to discuss progress, project scope and resource needs. Information sharing can then come from several sources - across project managers, from project team members or from project team meetings.
